How to apply natural make up at your wedding
365 days of weddings | day 13
A quiet moment for this Larmertree Gardens bride to apply her lipgloss. Too many times I’ve seen makeup applied under a bulb in a darkened corner of a room. This is a bad idea for so many reasons if you plan to be outside for the day. Mainly because it changes the perception of colour, Tungsten bulbs are red in colour and fluorescent bulbs are green. Our eyes are really clever at filtering it out but once you are aware of it you’ll see the difference. Makeup applied in an artificial light that is not daylight balanced will look very different outside, think of that orange person you see on the street. Here the bride is aware of this and is making the best use of natural light.
As a photographer, someone sitting by a large lightsource like a window is heaven. Window light is one of our favourite types of light in wedding preparation. I think you’ll agree that the light in this image transforms the simple image of makeup application into a lovely photograph.
