Laugh and the whole world laughs with you
365 Days of weddings | Day 60
My daughter, Alice, was born in 2010 and on that day my life changed forever. Not the sleepless nights or the relentless parenting and wondering just how did my mum and dad actually cope with me, sorry mum. What struck me was the fact that every single day since she was born and subsequently her sister, Hattie, I have laughed at some point in the day. Kids have a habit of pulling that string in their parents, its the emotional bond we have together.
Weddings have a similar momentum, in fact, on a wedding day pretty much every one of your closest friends come together with a single purpose, to give you the best day they can possibly give you. They all bond and share that same emotional state of being. Laughter is one of the side effects of happiness and I see it at every single wedding I photograph. With my 19 years of experience in Documentary wedding photography I can preempt where it will happen, sometimes nudge it over into hysterics.
In this photo just outside Poole Guildhall, the bridesmaids are waiting for the bride, Rachel, to finish her interview with the registrar. I simply asked them to stand by the Dorset Dubhire vehicles for a quick photo and the smallest joke put them over the edge. I am the king of the dad joke and sometimes they work. Can you hear the laughter?
