Lake yard Marina Wedding Photographer
Katie and Martyn are definitely “on the water” kinda people. They have a passion for all things water sport. When they asked me if I’d be happy to be on a chase boat for their wedding transport I jumped at the chance.
Katie works at Lake Yard Marina so the venue for the reception was a simple decision.I knew that the wedding was going to be fun and stylish from the word go when I saw Katies pinterest boards, she loves her photography! She didn’t let me down either. She attended to every little detail personally.
I started with Katie in the morning at her home, immaculate thanks to Martyn’s creative hands (he’s a cabinet-maker), every inch of the house said photograph me! When I saw chickens in the garden I could not resist taking Katie out to pet them… in her veil. This set the scene for the day, I knew after that she was up for anything. Abi, my assistant, definitely saw a sparkle in my eyes after that.
Into a Landrover defender and off to the ceremony, the ceremony was at Poole guildhall, where I tied the knot 2 years ago to my own beautiful lady, I love the place, it has to be one of the best registry offices on the south coast. Meanwhile Martyn and his best man arrived at Poole quay by boat, a very fast Wake boat, this is where I met them. Looking very cool in waistcoats and Converse allstars, a look I can no longer pull off! we wandered through old Poole to the ceremony where we met the rest of the guests. After a brief drink everyone went inside to await the arrival of Katie.
Katie turned up in her stunning lace dress, one of my favourite dresses of the year so far (although it wouldn’t suit me) and suitably nervous. When I went inside to see Martyn I saw the same nerves. When the doors opened Martyn held it together….just. After the ceremony which i have to say had one of the funniest readings I’ve ever heard, even the registrars had tears of laughter, we walked to the quay where their boat was waiting for them.
Both Katie and Martyn relaxed as soon as they set foot aboard the boat, home ground they must have thought. A short journey, avoiding the incoming weather front we ended up at Lake Yard Marina.
This was my first wedding at the Marina and I have to say Katie had done herself proud. Every little detail had her touch on it. Her dogs were waiting, her guests were fun and the games were hilarious. I loved every moment of this wedding and reminds me why I love my job. Katie is a very talented illustrator which really helped with her creative ideas for her wedding. Check out her website and her Etsy shop and tell her I said hi.
