That's a wrap, the final moments of bridal preparation
365 days of weddings | Day 10
10 days into the personal project of a year of inspirational wedding photographs, that the first milestone and the easiest one to reach, onto the next one.
Here at a Sandbanks Hotel Wedding, I have caught the bride in a moment of reflection. Bridal preparation is always fun and relaxed most of the time until the moment the dress goes on. That moment is when it all starts to become real and the anxiety sets in, not usually for the bride but for everyone else who wants the bride to look perfect. A dress with a lace up back in one of the hurdles a mother of the bride or bridesmaid has to deal with. Not something that in the 21st century we come across every day unless the bridal team have paid close attention to the dress shop expert now is when the experience shows. I have seen makeup artists hang around just to help at this moment, Fiona Lucy-Clarke is one of my favourites who is always on hand at this point.
The wedding dress is the gift wrap for the new husband, all tied with a bow. I can see the bride in this photograph running through the day in her mind while the bridal team are working out the back of the dress, is the lace even? were we told to start at the top or the bottom? how do we lace it? can you remember how to tie a bow? I love Kady’s serene expression, a stolen moment for her new husband to see in the album. A proud man he was too.
