Alice and Scott’s amazing day at Hale Park House

Saint Mary’s Church and Hale Park House Wedding

Hale Park is a Family-owned manor house between Ringwood and Salisbury. The owner, Sloan, is very hands-on and will bend over backwards to help any couple have the wedding of their dreams.

The Extensive grounds have manicured lawns, a rose garden, a pond, a stream for those adventurous enough to find it and even a Church on site. You can have your function in a sizable room in the manor overlooking the lawn or hire a temporary structure such as a tipi or marquee.

This is my second visit to the lesser-known wedding venue and I love it there. I am proud to be a recommended photographer for Hale Park House.

Hale Park House Wedding in Dorset

Dramatic weather and Glorious light

Alice and Scott had their wedding in Saint Mary’s Church which is situated on the grounds of Hale Park Manor in Hale, Hampshire. The week before the wedding the weather forecast was terrible and everyone was on their toes for an interesting day. We had gale-force winds and driving rain on the radar which was quite opposite to the last time I visited Hale Park where it was nearly 40 degrees! Fortunately on the morning of the wedding the weather relaxed and allowed us to get some dramatic photos.

I am often asked what happens when it rains at a wedding, I always reply ‘Embrace it’ Britain is known for its interesting weather patterns and with it comes interesting light. I love a dark sky with the sun on the hills and clouds in the sky, I find that far more interesting than a blue sky. On this day we had exactly that, Alice and Scott must have an angel watching over them as the only rain we saw was while we were inside at the church ceremony (which included a well-timed thunderclap) and during the wedding breakfast. A member of the family had travelled down from the lake district to play the church organ and commented on the fact it was not really raining…… all while balancing a wine bottle on his head, he was a legend considering he was an octagenarian.

Scott arrived in his vintage Toyota Corolla and I left the girl’s preparation to see him arrive in style down the long driveway which is lined with trees, I have to admit I was impressed with his car, followed by an equally vintage BMW 3 series. A few quick photos in front of Hale Park before I ran back inside to join the hair and makeup mayhem for a while. The walk to the church with the bridal party was one of my favourite points of the day, with a brooding sky they looked absolutely stunning with the manor house as a backdrop. The rest of the day was equally memorable and I hope you enjoy the story of the day told in the photographs below.
